Especially make the detailed elaboration at the first view, caused the human to look easily to have the sympathetic chord, I also very approved author's viewpoint. Approves!n

Focus is, indeed, key. I'm completely new (hence woefully ignorant) and an accidental stumbler into the entrepreneurial/startup world, and though I'm 200% passionate and involved, I've already gotten mildly distracted by other ideas that seem shinier and bouncier. Great post. I'm tempted to print it out and tape it to the wall along with my other entrepreneury-y inspirational reads.

I just had a thought. maybe last year was full of unfinished underresourced projects because it was a bloody hard year. without the horrible circumstances of the credit crunch would some of these projects have been more successful? Probably.

I agree completely with you about focus and spreading too thin. This is one of the best posts you've written so far. And I'm even more certain than before of your success. Looking fwwd to catching up.

Hi David, I hope you realize how important posts like these are for first time entrepreneurs. Thanks so much for the insight and honesty. Trusting your gut and balancing it with knowledge and advice from those who have traveled down the road before you is what keeps me faithful.
Wishing you more targeted success in 2010!
Wendy

Great article. The section on finding the right things to work on especially resonated with me. Sometimes I feel guilty for feeling like I'm not doing working hard enough. But I've always felt like going slower (and doing things other than work) releases my creativity valve, helps the product go in the right direction, and lets me evaluate if I'm spending my time in the right places.

Also, about sunk costs-- I definitely see how it applies to poker, as I'm an avid player as well. However, when it comes to grocery store lines (or switching lanes in a traffic jam, which is my pet obsession), there's another explanation for not wanting to move-- the law of averages. So, if I believe that, on average, all lines will move at the same rate, then if I see another line move faster for a bit, it makes sense for me to stay in my current line because the law of averages will work in my favor. This is why if you always try to jump to the fastest adjacent lane to you in a traffic jam you are likely to do worse than if you stayed the same lane the whole time :).
